Our bold vision:
Bring back Kiwi to
Te Miro
We're on a community-powered mission to return our native icon to its natural environment. Together, we can make Te Miro a thriving habitat for Kiwi once again.
Restoring birdsong & biodiversity
Te Miro Kiwi is a community-powered mission to return Aotearoa’s iconic
taonga to our local bush.
Following our launch in 2025, we’re building a growing network of traps to reduce predator numbers across the wider area — with the ultimate goal of bringing our national bird back to its natural habitat where it belongs.
Led by Adam Thompson and his business, Restore Native, Te Miro Kiwi is in its first year and already has 100 traps in place on local farmland. These traps focus largely on controlling stoats, a major threat to young Kiwi.
With strong early support from the Te Miro community, the project is well underway — and we’re now calling for volunteers, funding, and broader backing to keep it moving.
Together, we can make Te Miro a thriving habitat for Kiwi once again.
